For my daughter’s (Skyler) 16th birthday (April 2011), she begged and begged for a cat. Since our recent move from Virginia to Indiana was extremely difficult on her, I told her she had to get the ok from her stepdad. Secretly I was hoping he would tell her no just for the fact that I’ve never been much of animal person. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I hated them, they were just fine as long as they were someone else’s. Back to getting the approval from my husband…he said she could get one.
The first place we went to look was Pet Smart. If I remember correctly, there was maybe 5 or 6 cats there. Well Skyler honed in on an adorable Calico, we had an employee get her out so Skyler could hold her. Right away the cat rubbed her face on Skyler’s cheek, a minute or two later she was sneezing like crazy. It would appear that she is mildly allergic to cats. Not even that was going to stop her from getting a cat so we pressed on in search of HER cat. We went to a couple of different places that were doing on location adoptions, the Humane Society, and even to a no kill animal shelter…
Here’s some of the cuties that we got to interact with during our search…

… before deciding that she wanted the very first cute Calico she held.
We went through all the paperwork to adopt her and brought her home a day or two later.
Skyler and her new kitty that she named Lux.
Checking out her new home…

The little stinker quickly made herself right at home in my chair…

And this is how she stole my heart…
How could I not fall in love with such a sweet little kitty that likes to be held like a baby?
